Dana Meadows has been teaching instrumental music in West Babylon for over 20 years. She is the director for the Symphonic Band and Marching Band. She teaches basic musicianship as well as instrumental lessons. Mrs. Meadows is also the advisor for the Tri-M music honor society and the SEA Club.

Mrs. Meadows earned her BS in Music education with an instrumental concentration from West Chester University, PA. Her major instrument is flute with minors in percussion and horn. She earned her Master of Arts at Stony Brook University. She continued her post grad work at Dowling College in Oakdale, NY.

Mrs. Meadows organizes two Acoustic Night benefit concerts in West Babylon. The annual Acoustic Night “A Celebration of Family, Friends and Music” raises funds for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The second performance benefits the Tri-M music honor Society and the West Babylon HS Music Parents.

Outside of school, She is an Assistant Scout Master and merit badge counselor with a local BSA troop and volunteers as a climbing instructor during summer camp.

Mrs. Meadows is also a board member for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Long Island Chapter. She is currently the chairperson for Patient Services and for Advocacy.

Some additional facts:

Mrs. Meadows is a current member of the Northport Community Band. She has been a member of the flute section since 1992.

She is a certified NYSSMA woodwind adjudicator.

Mrs. Meadows has held various positions in the Suffolk County Music Educators Association (SCMEA).

She has been honored as a guest conductor for the SCMEA All-County Band.

Mrs. Meadows has received the “Unsung Hero Award” from The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Mrs. Meadows loves to be active with her kids and can often be seen running and riding throughout the community. She competes in various endurance events and is an official 3X Ironman.
