The goal of WAVES is to compile the methods of environment based training for the development of social competences of disadvantaged adults in Europe, and a comparative report of the cases in partner organisations.
Objectives are to develop:
- social and communication competences of the target groups: personal, interpersonal, intercultural competence and other forms of behaviour that help to participate effectively in the society; improving personal and social well-being,
- a better understanding of the environment, and responsibilities of the citizens,
- a genuine recognition/understanding of disadvantaged groups by the communities,
- an emphasis on critical thinking, creativity, initiative, problem solving, risk assessment, decision taking and constructive management of feelings,
- an experience in sports and leisure time habits,
- vitality skills; self-confidence and cooperation with others, motivation to overcome challenges, tolerance to the personal/environmental changes and goal-orientation; protection of health; taking responsibility and team-working multi-cultural contexts
- a network among partners at a European scale to share good practises of adult training policies/education systems to transfer innovative methods.
- exploration of the effects of non-formal adult training methods on social competences, analysis by standard tests, generation of re-usable, reliable data for other organisations,
- launch/support parallel training programmes through networking channels (website and other ICT),
- implementation of structured trainings,
- (A) outdoor training programme: min. 6 week (60hours) per year, England: Surfing, Turkey: Water-Gym, Italy: Trekking, Portugal: Nature Exploring, Romania:Cycling
- (B) social competence workshops: 2 weeks(12hours) per year, indoor methodological/psychological preparation and reflection/evaluation workshops.
- (C) public events with the participation of other public bodies on environment cleaning, painting, planting and organic food festival.
- active inclusion of minimum 50 learners (25 per year) into programme per partner.
- provider and trainees’ international management meetings/workshops/outdoor trainings and public events.
- organisation of min. 2 attention raising event and media launches(min. 1000 people targeted) on social inclusion,
- organisation of WAVES Conference with the participation of min. 500 people including experts and politicians from Europe.
