APRIL STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Aisling Modrow

The arts, foreign language, and physical education departments would like to nominate Aisling Modrow for Student of the Month.

Aisling has been a strong dependable student in our classes and  has grown tremendously in her  musicianship over the last two years. During Freshman and Sophomore years at WHS Aisling performed on guitar in Jazz Ensemble. When the bassist graduated leaving a void in the band Aisling stepped up and decided to learn bass.

In order to do this successfully Aisling needed to learn to read music in bass clef and become stronger on her rhythms as the bass is the heartbeat of the ensemble. Aisling took independent study to sharpen her skills and practiced diligently every day. Over the course of a year and a half Aisling went from a new bass player to being selected as an Outstanding Jazz Musician at the UW Stevens Point Jazz Festival this past February.

Aisling is  an attentive student, and leads by example both with her musicianship and behavior - - setting a wonderful example for her peers. As both a TA and a student she not only does what is expected of her but anticipates the needs of the ensemble going above and beyond to help. This is a rare quality that will take her far in life.

Aisling’s strong work ethic, focus on details, and positive “get it done” attitude inspire the students around her to work hard and make her a valuable part of the WHS community. She is well deserving to be our student of the month.
