Ohio has a tip line 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) for people to report potential threats. Calls are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. Tips may be made anonymously.

In 2014, Wauseon Exempted Village School District registered as a participant in the Ohio Safer Schools Tip Line.  Participation was offered at no cost to the school district and the district continues to be a participant..

The Center for P-20 Safety and Security was formed as a collaborative effort between the Ohio Board of Regents and the Ohio Department of Education to create safe and supportive learning environments and respond to violence and its causes in educational settings throughout Ohio.  Center personnel focus on school climate, safety, security and emergency management concerns in the K-12 and higher education environments, providing guidance and direction to promote physically safe and emotionally secure environments for students, educators, and staff.

Students should not wait to call this hotline (at home) if they are become aware of a potential threat while they are at school. We always encourage our students to talk to an adult at school if they have a problem or aware of a dangerous situation.
