Mass Casualty Exercise

On Tuesday morning, October 30th, 2018, Wauseon Exempted Village Schools will be participating in a community-based mass casualty exercise that will involve an active shooter situation within the Wauseon High School building. Law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services will respond to the scene, secure it and exercise transporting “victims” to the Fulton County Health Center. The goal of the school district in a situation involving an active shooter is to minimize any injuries, however, during this exercise, the situation is setup to exercise the response of the area emergency services.

During this time, all access roadways to the Wauseon High School will be secured, by law enforcement, limiting access to the school. We will be using PowerSchool, Twitter, Facebook and our website to send out communication during this time. Our partner agencies will also assist us in sharing the information that we provide. It is probable that the three buildings, WPS, WES and WMS, will also complete a lock down drill in response to this exercise situation.
