Bus Registration

The end of the school year is almost here... so it's time to make plans for next year, specifically in regards to student transportation. School bus transportation is available to the Hosmer School and the Middle School from shared pickup points through Watertown. (Please note that other criteria apply: transportation is not available to students who live less than 0.75 miles' walking distance from their school, or to out-of-neighborhood students.)

Why pre-registration?
Bus routes and scheduled pickup times will be determined based on actual ridership. Obtaining pre-registrations allows us optimize the efficiency of our bus routes. It will also help us determine the number of seats that will be available for non-mandatory, fee-based riders.

If this is pre-registration, when will my child be considered registered?
Once the bus routes have been set, pre-registered mandatory riders will be assigned to bus stops and their registrations will be considered confirmed. (Families will be mailed a confirmation letter providing the bus stop location and pickup/dropoff times.)

All other pre-registered students will be considered on a space available basis and will require payment of the transportation fee in full prior to final confirmation. Provided additional seats are available, those pre-registered families we are able to accommodate will receive an invoice with instructions for making payment as well as details on how to apply for a need-based fee waiver. These pre-registrations will become confirmed registrations only when payment is received or a fee waiver is approved. Fee waivers are based on eligibility for the federal school lunch program's free or reduced meal assistance.

How can I get other questions answered?
Please check out the School Bus FAQ's on the WPS Transportation webpage. You may also reply to this email with additional questions, but please allow 5-7 days for a reply.

Sincerely,

Bridget O'Brien
Admin. Asst. for Facilities & Operations
