Welcome to Art

We have had a great first few weeks here in the art room!  Students have been able to jump into some really fun art projects and learn a few art room expectations in the process.

Getting settled into the art room consisted of making "Artist Porfolios" for grades PK-2 (a folder that will stay in the art room, available to hold both finished and in the works art projects).  Our third, fourth and fifth grade students were given blank sketchbooks and asked to design unique cover art.  Our sketchbooks will also stay in the art room and are available for students to work in when daily art projects are completed.  I am excited to share that I am putting together sketchbooks for our younger students as well. These will be introduced during the month of October and I am sure my artists will really enjoy having them!
Art lessons this month focused on "Line" for many students.

Students in Pre-K/K through 3rd grade were read a fun book called "Lines That Wiggle".

Pre-K/K students created Line Drawings with crayon and paint, as well as Line Sculptures out of paper.

1st graders worked on Silly Line People and began an exciting Cityscape project.

2nd graders made Line Collages using cut paper and also began a Cityscape project.

3rd graders have completed beautiful oil pastel Line Landscape artwork.

4th graders are also finishing up Line Landscape artwork, using soft pastels.

5th graders have been working hard on a multi-step project exploring line/pattern as well as Expressionistic painting.

Looking forward to a great Fall season here in the art room.  Stay tuned for pictures of our beautiful creations!
