Welcome To Hathaway Elementary!

The 2015-16 school year brings many new changes to Hathaway - new families, staff, and a new principal.

I am very excited to begin my new role as your principal.  I look forward to listening and learning from students, families, staff, and our community.  I began my teaching career in Washougal, and except for a few years, I have always worked in the district.  At Hathaway, I have always been impressed with how educators work hard to develop the potential, independence, and character of every student who shows up in our classrooms.

We recognize there are very real barriers to students' academic and behavioral success. These include the underlying issues of hunger, poverty, illness, and family instability. Each day, at Hathaway, we ask ourselves how we can raise up all our students and give them the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in this very demanding world.

We strongly believe that the only way to ensure the success of each student is by partnering with parents, students, teachers, and the Washougal community. The best possible learning atmosphere is one that has everyone working together for success. We invite you to participate in your child's educational life by supporting good study habits, by having them here daily and on time, by reading to and with your child, by involving yourself in school activities, and by speaking openly and honestly with your child's teacher and me.

Together, our support, dedication, and partnership will provide your child the best possible education available anywhere.
