SPECIAL EDUCATION INTERN

DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

 

 

OBJECTIVE:    To enable students at Snow Canyon High School

                              To gain first hand knowledge about people with

                              disabilities. Also to learn how to facilitate their

                               inclusion into their school and community.

 

BEHAVIOR & RESPONSIBILITIES:

                             Interns are responsible to take their assigned

                             student to class. They are to remain with their

                             student in their assigned class, or in the Special

                             Education classroom. The time with the student

                             is to be spent engaged in a learning activity. You

                             must remain with your student at all times, they                                       are never to be unattended.

 

ATTENDANCE:

                             Attendance is the most important part of this

                             Class. We need you to be here and be on time.

                             You must sign in daily PRIOR to class. An intern

                             who is on time and carries out their assigned

                             duties will earn 4 points daily.

 

CLASS REQUIREMENTS:

                             A daily journal that describes what the intern did

                             With their student and the students’ behavior is

                             To be maintained. The journal is worth 10 points

                              towards the student’s final grade.

 

EXTRA CREDIT:

                             To assist the intern in maintaining a sufficient

                             number of points to pass this class. There are ways

                             to earn extra points. Ten (10) extra points are

                             given out for the following: Taking a student with

                                disabilities to any after school activity such as

                                dances, sports events, etc.

 

GRADING:

                             95-100 = A         78-81 = B-                   57-60 = D+

                             90-94 = A-                   72-77 = C+         53-56 = D

                             86-89 = B+         66-71 = C           50-52 = D-

                             82-85 = B           61-65 = C-

CERTAIN THINGS ARE EXPECTED OF YOU

IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A PASSING GRADE.

 

 

1.      You must sign in daily-if you don’t there will be

NO credit given for the day.

            NO EXCEPTIONS   NO EXCUSES  NO WHINING

 

2.      The student is to be taken to the class they are signed

up for.  No where else!!!

 

        3.  You must remain with your assigned student the

             ENTIRE class time. If for any reason you must

            remove your student from class, you must return

           to the Special Education room.

 

3.      You must keep your student engaged in an activity,

preferably in their assigned class. If unable to do that, there will be activities to do back in the Special

Ed. Classroom. Doing nothing is not an option.

5.   It is very important that you be on the bus

ready to go with your student as soon as the tardy bell rings. Remember to sign in first.

If you are late, you will be marked Tardy.
