Graduation Requirements

Graduation Ceremonies Participation: The Washington County School District now requires that a student meet all graduation requirements in order to participate in the Graduation Ceremonies.  Utah Scholar and NCAA have additional requirements.  Please consult with your counselor if you are interested in becoming a Utah Scholar or need to go through the NCAA clearing house.


Credit Requirements for Graduation


ENGLISH 4 

Students must complete a total of three units of English (9-11). 1 unit of elective English is required in 12th. This class may be English 12 or approved course. To receive English credit, courses must integrate reading, writing, speaking and listening during each quarter.

MATHEMATICS 3

Students must complete a total of 3 units of Math. (Elem. Algebra, Geometry, Intermediate Algebra, Trig/Pre Calculus, Calculus, Statistics or a math elective for one of the three credits for the class of 2014 - Math I, Math II and Math III for the class of 2015 and beyond)


SCIENCE 3 
Students must complete 3 units of Science. A total of 2.0 credits from two of the five areas of science on the Foundation Courses list plus 1.0 credit from the Foundation Courses list or Applied and Advanced Courses list. Foundation Course List

SOCIAL SCIENCE 2.5 -class of 2020 will need 3.0
Students must complete 0.5 World Geography in 9th, 0.5 World Civ. in 10th, 1.0 US Studies in 11th and a 0.5 American Government in 12th.


FINE ARTS 1.5 
Students must complete a total of 1.5 units from Fine Arts. (This includes Arts, Music, Drama, and Dance)


HEALTH 0.5 
Students must complete .5 units in Consumer Health or Health.


PHYSICAL ED. 1.5 
Students must complete .5 units of Participation skills in 9th, .5 units Fit for Life in 10th, and .5 units additional physical education elective in 9-12 grades.


COMPUTER TECH 0.5 
Students must complete .5 units of this course

FINANCIAL LIT 0.5 
Students must complete .5 units of this course during the Junior or Senior year.

CAREER AND TECHNICAL 1 
Students must complete 1 unit in any state-approved applied technology course. (Industrial Arts, Home Economics, Business Education, Computer Science, Health Occupations, Principles of Technology.)


ELECTIVES 10  - 14 depending on year of graduation
Students must complete a total of 10 units of electives.


TOTAL CREDITS 32 REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION
