Volunteer Guidelines

If you accept an assignment with vows, you will be expected to:

 

KEEP ALL INFORMATION CONFIDENTIAL

Be reliable.

Notify the school if you can’t keep an appointment.

Be unobtrusive.

Dress appropriately -- comply with the dress code set forth for the students:

  Wear neat, clean clothes that fit properly and provide proper coverage

NO unbelted, sagging or exceedingly baggy pants;

NO plunging necklines or mid-drift tops;

NO short skirts—use the “fingertip” rule.

 Avoid sweat pants and PJ pants.

Your VOWS’ Coordinator is your liaison with the school.

  Any concerns or questions must be addressed with your VOWS Coordinator. 

If for any reason you cannot continue your VOWS assignment, please inform the Teacher

AND your VOWS Coordinator ASAP.

 

 

ESTABLISH A GOOD RAPPORT WITH THE TEACHER

 Be prompt for your assignment.

If you do not understand the assignment, ask the Teacher for clarification.

Respect the Teacher’s position as classroom leader.

Do not use the Teachers’ Room.

Remember, VOWS are here to tutor, NOT to teach.

 

 

BUILDING ETIQUETTE

 Always sign in & out at the school office on the VOWS’ Sign-In Sheet.

Always wear your VOWS’ button or visitors' pass while in the school or on a field trip.

Once your assignment is completed, please leave the school.

Restrict your activities to the duties assigned.

Do NOT use the school telephone for personal calls or school technology for personal use.

Do NOT answer the school telephone, even if there is no one in the office.
