News from the Fourth Grade

(A copy of this letter was sent home and returned

signed at the beginning of the year)

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to fourth grade!  We are so thankful for the opportunity to get to know and teach your child.  It will be an exciting and wonderful year for all of us.  We would like to take this time to explain some of our expectations and procedures for the upcoming school year.

    •         Each child will begin each 6 weeks with a conduct grade of 100.
    •          Two points will be taken off for behavior/responsibility, homework, red notes, not following rules, and missing parent signatures.  If the entire class receives a red note, the class will miss recess.
    •          Five points will be taken off if your child is referred to the office for discipline procedures.
    •          If discipline problems persist, an alternate behavior plan may be put in place.

    •          Your child is responsible for his or her own daily folder.
    •         The folder will go home daily with a conduct chart, calendar, and homework assignments.
    •          Graded papers will go home every Wednesday, and the calendar must be signed by Friday morning to let us know you have received their folder.  PLEASE KEEP GRADED PAPERS AT HOME.
    •          Calendar must be signed by Friday morning or points will be deducted.

    •           Students are required to turn in any homework the following class day or as instructed by the teacher.
    •          15 points will be deducted each day it is late.  Assignments three days late will result in a zero.
    •          10 points will be taken off for incomplete headings (name, number, date, etc…)

  •    MAKE-UP WORK:
  •        It is the student’s responsibility to collect their missed work upon returning to school.
  •        Students who are absent will have the number of days absent to complete their work and get it turned in.

The rules and procedures are established to grow responsibility, respect, productivity, and success in and for each student.  This will create good learning habits for each child that will make every school year more and more successful.  We know this year will be filled with a lot of fun learning experiences and new friendships.  Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns that you may have throughout the school year.  You can contact us via e-mail or by calling the school office at 651-7790.  Our conference time is 9:10-10:05.
