The art classroom is a safe and supportive environment where art making activities can make connections to other studies, other cultures, and other times.  My intention is to assist students in the creation of a language of forms and images that they can use to describe themselves and their world.  As students strive to express their ideas within the confines of the materials, I am there to assist, encourage, and inspire.

Perhaps the most wonderful aspect of the art experience in school is the fact that so many youngsters enjoy it.  They become actively, physically engaged in a learning process that is fun, and that they regard as being important to them.  In the art classroom, children are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences, and express them through the language of visual images.
