How do we define "Gifted and Talented" at Waipipi School? Gifted and talented students at Waipipi School are those who exhibit qualities and abilities characteristic of giftedness or talent valued by the school community. Gifted students are those with the potential to achieve outstanding performance related to other students of the same age, in one or more areas of human endeavor. Talented students are those who demonstrate exceptional ability in one or more of these areas. |
Differentiated educational environments are necessary to provide a catalyst to support the needs of these students in one or more of the following domains:
Creative/Imaginative Giftedness (Includes entrepreneurial skills and problem solving)
Athletic Ability
Cultural Giftedness (Includes Educultural Wheel Principles)
Intellectual Giftedness
Personal/Social Qualities (includes leadership skills)
Technological Giftedness
Visual or Performing Art (drama, speeches, artwork)
We recognise that some students may be Twice Exceptional (2E) which means that they may have gifts beyond their peers in conjunction with a learning disability.
