WACT Hare Line

WACT Hash*

'The Hash'
is a worldwide organisation best described as a social gathering of people who like to run, jog or walk for exercise and enjoy a beer or two and a chat afterwards. It has no formal structure and the motto "drinkers with a running problem".
WACT derives its name from Wednesday Australian Capital Territory Hash House Harriers. It is a mixed hash that runs in Canberra every Wednesday evening. In summer there is a mix of pub, home and forest locations and in winter, a few more pub runs to get out of the cold.
The runs are non-competitive 'hare and hounds' style, either cross-country or around the suburbs and are usually not arduous, although an occasional marathon can creep in. WACT caters for walkers as well as the more athletically minded.
How To Join
Visitors are always welcome and newcomers need just turn up on the night (see the WACT Calendar on this page). However, please feel free to contact any of the Committee if you'd like an introduction or a lift.
Cost is minimal, with a nominal charge ($2) for each run collected on the night. Your first run is free.
The runs are usually from a pub, club or restaurant (many of the pack will hang around for a meal afterwards). However occasionally we gather outdoors from the Hare's home or a park where the Hare normally provides food. The Bucket provides a good range of drinks at cheap prices if we are not on licensed premises.
