Welcome to my site
I am Kuruthumu Mwamende, a graduate research assistant at Virginia Tech pursuing Doctoral degree in Wildlife Conservation. My research aims at understanding primates and primate-people interactions. I hope to gather information on the patterns, impacts and nature of Human-Primate conflict and potential transmission of diseases. The goal is to create knowledge to inform Primate conservation strategy, agricultural development and improve human food security among primate affected communities living around Udzungwa mountains-Tanzania. During times am not working, I enjoy being outside on my biweekly short hikes, walking, or just exploring the neighborhood with my daughter.
