Hokie BugFest 4-H Exhibit

2018 SCHEDULE - SQUIRES STUDENT CENTER/DOWNTOWN BLACKSBURG

Hokie BugFest opens to the general public at 10:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm again this year.

In working with the Virginia Tech Center for Autism Research), the Hokie BugFest is designated a S.A.F.E. (Support Autism Friendly Environments) event. As in the past, we will open at 9:00 am with several sensory friendly activities for children with autism and their families. Those activities will continue to be available throughout the day. Along with those activities, Hokie BugFest will again host several quiet rooms for all parents and children. There are also many areas to relax and unwind in Squires.

We are currently in a planning mode to move last year's activities (see below), and some new ones, into Squires and Downtown Blacksburg. We are in discussions with the Lyric Theatre in an effort to tie in the downtown. Our plans are to host an entomology themed movie in the Lyric during the time leading up to and after the event. This is a work in progress. Our desire is to make this activity free to the public, just like the rest of Hokie BugFest. Stay tuned for further developments as we also work with Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. and Squires Student Center to make this year's event more exciting, more fun, and more educational.

Hokie BugFest 2018 Layout

The following are last year's activities -- these will change as we complete our planning for this year's event.  A similar guide will be produced for this year's event to assist the public with finding the activities and displays. We are also planning to create floor markers to guide you through the event. Look for the Hokie BugFest arrows on the floor to find your way.
