ARMA Student Chapter at Virginia Tech

ARMA is a professional and international engineering and scientific society that promotes interaction among rock mechanics and geomechanics specialists, practitioners, and academics. In keeping with ARMA's principle that “a strong student membership ensures future continuity," the ARMA Student Chapter at Virginia Tech was created to expose Virginia Tech students to state-of-the-art rock engineering and to promote the development of knowledge within the field through research dissemination, presentations, meetings, publications (ARMA E-News) and topical symposia.

Mission: ARMA student chapter’s goal is to disseminate information through presentations, meetings, publications (ARMA E-News), topical symposia to make Virginia Tech students or the other members have a better idea about the state-of-the-art Rock Engineering knowledge and promote the development of knowledge within the field.

Vision: the ARMA Student Chapter will be an official student organization at Virginia Tech, hosting students from different majors (such as civil and geotechnical engineering, geology, mining engineering, and mechanical engineering) that share interest in areas related to rock mechanics, geomechanics, and rock engineering.
