Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year!
We are so excited to have you, and your child, as part of the Visitation of Our Lady School family!
We will be starting nightly homework in Kindergarten. Homework is a great way to reinforce the skills that we are teaching in class, and it shows the parents what we are learning, and the type of work we do on a daily basis. Please create an environment where your child can sit and complete his/her homework. You may provide help to the student but please refrain from doing the homework for him/her. All tracing and writing should be done using a pencil, while any part that requires coloring should be done with crayons. Homework should be the child’s best effort. Please return homework daily for we take record of what is turned in.
We will also be sending home a name tracing sheet inside of a sheet protector and a dry erase marker. Please have your child practice tracing his/her name correctly. Please note that we teach the students to form letters from top to bottom and with only the first letter in the name being capitalized. This will be a skill assessed on the Kindergarten report card.
We are sending home a copy of the report card skills that will be assessed this school year. We ask that you take the time to review the skills to get an idea of what we will be working in Kindergarten. Not all skills will be assessed at the beginning of the year; instead, we will add a few skills each nine weeks starting with the easiest to the most complex. At the end of each nine weeks, we will send a letter home stating what will be assessed.
Finally, we ask that you check your child’s home folder daily and empty it. Weekly homework sheets will be sent in your child’s folder, and newsletters will be printed on the reverse sides. Red test folders will also be sent home on Wednesdays. Please review, sign test(s) and return to school . All test papers will be filed away in the classroom. We are looking forward to a great year! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks for your cooperation and support.
All the best,
Mrs. Katherine and Ms. Lindsey
