Our values are evident in the type of school we are working to create.

If (adult and student) learners:

then the learners will be engaged with deeper levels of understanding more often and enjoy the challenge of being a partner in their continuous growth.

2011-2012
Our Work
We've worked a long time on crafting a vision statement, and we were able to get on the same page. Through interviews conducted by the facilities planning group and another set of interviews and surveys conducted by new administration, our stakeholders and staff mentioned innovation (and often in conjunction with technology), personalized learning, and problem solving as key pieces of the Van Meter Vision. It still needs clarity although as our data indicate "fuzzy edges" about other components of what Van Meter Schools should strive to do be for our students.

We've gone back through the work from the past three years and used information from teacher interviews to revive the final steps of the Vision/Mission work. Here's what was presented to the school improvement team (SIT) at the 2012 summer retreat.
