Shannon Miller, District Teacher Librarian
This is my fourth year as the district teacher librarian, technology specialist, and National Honor Society sponsor at Van Meter Community School and in the teaching profession. My husband Robbie and I live south of Van Meter on an acreage with our three amazing children Brianna who is 16, Brady who is 13, and Hagan who is 5. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in elementary education and art in 1994 and then stayed home to raise our kids for 12 years. When I took this job I was just finishing up my reading endorsement from Viterbo and jumped right into my masters program in School Library Science at UNI. I enjoyed working on my masters degree, espeically working on my research work which focused on the one-to-one laptop learning initiative at Van Meter. I graduated in May 2010.
I love my role at Van Meter and feel like I have found my dream job! Being around learners, thinkers, technology, books, creativity and VOICE'S everyday is the best!
