V.I.T. Jr.-Sr. High School Principal - Mark Darr

Hello, I am Mark Darr, the new Principal here at VIT Jr./Sr. High School.  As we approach the end of the first quarter of the 2018-2019 school year, I want to introduce myself, and tell you about the philosophy for our school.  I am in my 19th year in education, teaching for 10 years, an assistant principal/athletic director for 5 years, and now in my 4th year as a building principal.  I am extremely excited to be part of the VIT family.   I have worked in rural school settings for most of my career, and went to high school in a small town, Carrollton, IL.  I graduated from Blackburn College in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science Education, in 2008 from the University of Illinois Springfield with my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership/Administration, and then in 2018, I graduated from the University of Illinois again with my Post-Masters Certification in Education Leadership/Administration.   I love the closeness the small school community can provide to our students here at VIT. We have an outstanding staff who goes above and beyond for our students, and I am very proud to be a part of it. I believe our school should be a safe environment for all students, an engaging experience for our students in the classroom, and a welcoming environment for all who enter.  I look forward to meeting you, if I haven’t done so already, and look forward to an outstanding rest of the 2018-2019 school year and beyond.

Mr. Darr
