¡Bienvenidos a la clase de Español! As an introduction to the Spanish language, we will focus on developing the four basic language skills or functions: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Because language is connected to culture, we will also expand, and/or develop each student's understanding and use of the target language by raising awareness of cultural diversity and by learning more about different Spanish speaking countiries/communities. Through the use of language and the use of cultures, students will develop an understanding and appreciation for various aspects of culture and civilization.

Homework is an essential component for academic achievement. To better assist your child, please check his/her planner daily for homework. Homework will also be posted on this website; but please be sure to check the appropriate grade level.   Please note that late homework is accepted until five(5) days after the assigned date. A pattern of lateness however will result in a student not receiving an “Outstanding” and possibly not a “Satisfactory” for work habits.

Make-up work: If students are absent, it is their responsibility to ask for, and make up any assignments missing.

Students have the opportunity to retake two grammar assessments per quarter. After each assessment is returned, students will be informed of when they can do the retake, so please ask your child about these dates if he or she needs to retake an assessment. Students retaking assessments are expected to be better prepared the second time around; therefore, they must complete and turn in their test/assessment reflections on time, and look into different strategies and resources in order to accomplish this. Retake results will be their final grade.

Make-up assessments: It is the student’s responsibility to make up any assessment they might have missed. Be sure to make arrangements with me ahead of time.

Academic grade

The academic grade will be based on a variety of assessments including tests, projects, composition notebook checks, and homework.

On this website, you will find information about each class. I will be posting homework for each grade level anytime homework is assigned. You may also find some helpful links and resources you can use at home to further develop your Spanish language skills, or simply to review different concepts.
