ACADEMIC AND CAREER PLANNING

OUR MISSION

Here at Viroqua Area Schools, it is our goal to ensure that all students have an academic and career plan personalized to meet their needs and prepare them for post-secondary success. This will be accomplished through a systems approach to post-secondary exploration and planning through developmental guidance and ACP lessons, individual ACP conferences, classroom activities, the use of Xello, job shadows, apprenticeships, career fairs, college campus visit, and Wisconsin Education Fairs.

During this process student will:

    • Understand how their unique strengths and interests align to a wide variety of future opportunities.

    • Understand their own interests, strengths, values, and learning styles.

    • Create a vision of their future.

    • Develop individual goals.

    • Prepare a personal plan for achieving their vision and goals.

Note: Our district plan will change as needed to meet the needs of the students and DPI requirements.

What is ACP?

Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills. It is also...

  • create a vision of his or her future

  • develop individual goals

  • prepare a personal plan for achieving the vision and goals

A product that documents and reflects students’:

  • post-secondary plans aligned to career goals & financial reality

  • record of college and career readiness skills.

What ACP means for Viroqua Area Schools:

Academic and Career Planning is a student’s journey to develop awareness of self through exploration and collaboration with parents, educators, and mentors, and to empower students to maximize their potential.
