Lesson 6. Order supplies

You won't be ordering a lot of products for this class except for the five ingredients below. They can be bought online or at your local international / Indian / Pakistani store.

Ingredients for the course

You'll watch the cooking demos in the various lessons. From those videos, you'll decide which meals you want to make. You can decide at that time what ingredients you want to buy. Most of the dishes in the videos use ingredients you can get at your local grocer. Work at your own pace and make only the recipes you'd like to try. This course will be copied on the  VeganCookingLessons.Org website so you'll always have access to the material even after the course ends. 


Rather than use the spices shown in the videos, consider using your own "spice bases". The upcoming lesson, Spice Bases, will encourage you to ponder and come up with a list of spice combinations that you already know you like. We encourage you to keep your list of preferred spice bases simple and few and to make most of your meals using your same spices while tweaking them along the way. This will allow you to make many of the dishes in the videos without having to buy so many spices. To reiterate, I would advise you to not bother trying to use all the spices they use in the videos. That will bog you down. Try using only your own favorite spices.

If you already know you don't like one of these ingredients or are allergic, just leave it out. There are plenty of other ingredients you'll be using.  

If you need a list of some things to buy, I would tell you to have these ingredients in your kitchen:

  1. Fresh garlic
  2. Fresh ginger
  3. Powder garlic
  4. Powder onion
  5. Cumin
  6. Dried oregano
  7. Dried basil
  8. Onions
  9. Red chilies
  10. Potatoes of various kinds
  11. Onions
  12. Canned diced tomatoes without spices

  14. Red lentils shown below
  15. Whole moong flour shown below
  16. Split moong dal shown below
  17. Whole moong dal shown below
  18. Besan flour shown below
  19. Urad whole gota shown below
  20. Nut bag if you decide to make plant milks

You'll need green lentils for an upcoming experiment. Can be bought at most grocery stores.

Order these ingredients online or at your local international store. You'll use them later in the course. Don't worry if you don't know what these food items are. You'll learn about them.

Nut bag - buy a nut bag only if you think you'll be making plant milks. You can always get this later.
