RegSrvr Creator

With the Regsrvr creator you can open existing .regsrvr files and add their content to the table. If the file contains passwords for SQL authentication and if it was created by the same user, the passwords will be decrypted and shown.

The grouping of servers are ignored, so duplicated server names will be automatically renamed during later export.

You can also paste data from the clipboard into the table in the form of a whole table, or separated by rows (new line) /columns (tab) so it’s suitable for pasting from other table based software (MS Excel for example).

The server list can be a file exported from Management studio or you can import an existing list memorized in the same studio. Also, you can import text file with fields separated by TAB character.

Exported list of servers from table to the .regsrvr file can be imported to the Management studio where you can organize them in groups (one file per group).

During export, omitted users or passwords will be automatically filled with the main user and password if the server doesn’t use Windows for authentication. Also, the IP address (with instance) of server will be used like a server name if the name is omitted.

Keep in mind that you must export the server list only as the same user which will use the SQL management studio. Otherwise, the passwords will not be usable and an error will occur during import.

You can also change passwords in someone’s exported .regsrvr file with the main password. In that kind of usage of the application, the groups in the list will be preserved.
