Shell - Alec

This artifact is a shell, probably from a clam. The artifact was probably used sometime from 1924 to 1960. It's mostly a round object with a raise in the middle, but on the other side its indented to fit with the raise. Most of the shell is white, but on the raised side there are brown patches that are sticking out about a millimeter. On the dented side, there are also small spots with black on it. On a part of the shell there is a small piece that sticks out of the shell. The shell was roughly 21 centimeters in diameter and the raise was about 4 centimeters high. This shell was probably used as decoration because of its size. It is probably too big for someone to carry around as a charm. It also could have been used as a bowl because it is fairly big and deep. Some of the themes this could be applied to are globalization and trade because it might have been bought. It could have been immigration or migration because it was probably found in a different part of the world, and it could have also been part of diet because the people who owned it might have used it as a bowl. I think it could be meaningful to the owner because it might have been passed down through generations as a decoration.
