Radius Bos - Stephen

The artifact you are looking at right now is a cow fossil. The scientific name is Bos (Cow) Radius (a large bone in the forearm). The color of this bone looks like a orange red rust. The archaeological theme is Health / Medicine / Diet because it left record of what the people ate. This was found in the Parade Grounds. This is a fossil from the actual Fort Vancouver. The employees of the company received rations, it was only enough for one Male, not for a family. Employees got through this by having personal gardens, they hunted and fished. Remains of meals left record of their diet, like fish and cow bones. They left several thousand heads of livestock. Eating it was forbidden, so they left it.
