Welcome to My Professional Portfolio

Ann L. VanderCook
B.M.Ed, Illinois State University
MMEd, VanderCook College of Music

I am a student at VanderCook College of Music working towards a Bachelor of Music Education degree. My major instrument is the clarinet but I am studying all instruments and learning how to teach music classes in choral, general music  and instrumental music areas. I hope one day to teach children at the elementary and middle school levels.  In addition to studying at VanderCook, I give lessons on the clarinet and flute in the VanderCook Preparatory Program.  Before enrolling at VanderCook, I was a student at East central High School where I played clarinet in the band, sang in the choir, and marched in the marching band.

I grew up in southern Illinois where I learned to love music from my clarinet teacher, Ms. Mary Nutt, who encouraged me with recitals, solos, and the opportunity to play in the All-State Band.

I am currently a member of CBDNA and Sigma Alpha Iota. Each year, I look forward to attending the Illinois Music Educators Association annual conference. I plan to complete the BMEd degree in the spring of 2013. You may view my complete resume here.
