As the Board Chairperson for the Vallivue School District Board of Trustees, I am proud and excited to celebrate the enormous success that the district has experienced over the past several years.  My journey with this district started 37 years ago.  I have seen five of my own children pass through these halls and on to advanced degrees. We have experienced the growth and expansion of a small rural district into
an innovative leader in scholastic achievement.  Twelve years ago, the current seniors started their journey, guided by a new road map called No Child Left Behind.  Although at the time we could not see where that road would take us and, I admit, most of us followed the map “kicking and screaming,”  Vallivue rose to the challenge.  In the midst of extraordinary growth in student population, taking advantage of exceptional district leadership, patron support and plain old ‘country gumption,’ we retained and attracted the best in administrators and educators.  Using the new legislation as a guide we changed education, as we knew it, aligning curriculum, benchmarking achievement and using data in ways never before imagined.  If you have not been in an elementary classroom in the last 15 years, I would suggest that you stop by and take a look.  Things have changed…and we have only just begun.
The key work of the school board is focused on student achievement.  Individually the members of this board are nothing more than parents and patrons.  As a group we serve as a guiding force for the strategic success of the district.  The key components as defined by our association are: Vision, Standards, Assessment, Accountability, Alignment, Climate, Collaboration and Community Engagement, and Continuous Improvement.  These are our guiding principles.  Please feel free to contact a member of the board with any questions, concerns or compliments. As far as I know we are the only elected volunteers in the state.  We are here because we care about kids.  Vallivue is definitely on it's way UP!  Look out world, here we come!
