This is the home of my Social Justice Project for EdL 729 with Dr. Penick-Parks.  When I first began this class and this project I felt confident that I was a "good" person who fought against racism, classism, sexism, and social injustice in general.  Imagine my surprise when I engaged in the first couple of assigned readings and realized that I was a passive racist.  As I begin the hard work of confronting my biases, understanding where those biases came from, and then begin changing my thoughts and beliefs I realize I have a lot of work in front of me.  It is no longer enough to feel in my heart that social injustice isn't right, or to chat with my family about the need for equity.  I must stretch outside of my comfort zone and ACT against inequality.  This project will act as my first steps out of that comfort zone and towards becoming an active anti-racist.  It won't be easy, but it will always be what is right.
