The Western Wisconsin Education Conference was held again this year in the La Crosse Center. Keynote speakers Joe Cavanaugh and John Jacobson offered great inspiration and advice for all teachers in attendance. The breakout sessions throughout the day were a great experience for the conference attendees. Among some of the sessions were Inclusion: What is the Right Thing to Do?, Connecting your Classroom with the Community Around You, iPad and Web 2.0 Assessment Tools, High Impact Teaching, and many more!

This was a great professional development option for our KDP members as they took part in many conversations and discussions with fellow education students as well as educators from around the area.

Rotary Lights Take-Down

January 1, 2012

The Rotary Lights viewing is a traditional venture for many throughout December but the displays do need to come down. Although KDP is only responsible for taking down their own tree, three volunteers came out on this New Year's Day to do the job. The lack of snow made the job a bit more bearable than past years and with the help of all three volunteers the task was completed in no time.

Fall Social

November 28, 2011

Kappa Delta Pi members work together to help setup the Rotary Lights and to decorate our very own tree in the Rotary Lights Display so, after a great Fall semester and as a quick break before finals begin, KDP members gather together to take a tour through the displays in Riverside Park.

This year, more than 35 KDP members carpooled together down to the park and walked through the Rotary Lights. Although we did not have snow this year, the compilation of lighted and sometimes animated displays was still quite the sight to be seen.

After more than a half an hour walking about in Riverside Park, KDP members headed back to our meeting room on campus for some hot chocolate, frosted sugar cookies and some socializing. It was a great night to get together with many members and reminisce on a fantastic semester.

Rotary Lights Setup

November 6, 2011

The Rotary Lights in Riverside Park are an annual tradition for the LaCrosse area. Many families travel down to Riverside Park to see the brilliant display of lighted, snow covered scenes. Although the displays provide effortless entertainment for those driving and strolling through the park, the setup is anything but effortless.

Kappa Delta Pi members volunteered to help with the display setup again this year and needless to say, their hard work was well worth it. Three shifts of KDP members worked with the Rotary Lights organizers and other volunteers to help setup the displays throughout the park on November 6th. Six hours and hundreds of strings of LED lights later, Rotary Lights was set up and ready for public viewing!
