About Me: Dominique Garcia, MA in Cultural Studies

Originally from Southern California, I moved up to Seattle to attend Seattle Pacific University for my undergraduate work. I earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Physiology, with minors in Chemistry and Women's Studies. I plan to attend medical school and become a doctor, and hope to work in community health, serving predominantly Latino populations as a primary care physician in family medicine. I am interested in the intersection of culture, power, and medicine, and plan to utilize a Master’s in Cultural Studies to better equip me in becoming a physician aware of structural boundaries to care. I wish to learn how to think about health inequality and disparities in new ways that engage systems of inequality and structural violence. This portfolio highlights some of the work I have done at the intersections of Cultural Studies and health care.
