Boot Camp Aug 14 2013

Dual Immersion Boot Camp for Educators Day 2:
New immersion teacher preps
 
Wednesday, August 14, 2013 8:30 am - 2:30 pm
Audience: Elementary* Immersion teachers and instructional assistants
*We also welcome middle and high school immersion teachers if we have sufficient numbers to meet your needs.
Languages: Spanish, Japanese, Chinese (others also welcome)
Location: Concord International School 723 S Concord St, Seattle, WA 98108
6 Free clock hours from OSPI (after you complete the evaluation at the end of the day)
We will have refreshments and lunch provided by the Confucius Institute of the State of Washington. It will be a working lunch.
Cost: No cost. The workshop is hosted by Seattle Public Schools and cosponsored by the Confucius Institute of the State of Washington and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction World Languages Program and Spanish Center.

Group 1 - Chinese teachers with Pollyanna in Room 201(?)

8:30-9:00       IPA Overview (full group) to slide 32 
9:00-9:30       Finish IPA (Chinese group) 
9:45-11:15     TPRS (Chinese group) 
11:15-12:15    Lunch and work on sharing material (Formative assessment ideas, TPRS demo, how to establish meaning of the words, ideas to teach Chinese characters) 
12:15-12:45    TPRS Overview (full group) with one-page handout 
12:45-2:15      Demo and sharing (Chinese group) 
2:15-2:30        Wrap-up and Clock hours and Evals (full group)

 

Group 2 - Chinese Dual Immersion teachers with Samantha in Room 202(?)

9:00-11:15     Meet with Samantha to plan Math curriculum
11:15-12:15    Lunch 
12:15-12:45    TPRS Overview (full group) with one-page handout (optional)
