Dual Immersion Boot Camp
A Workshop for Educators

OSPI and the Confucius Institute of the State of Washington are proud to be cosponsors of the fourth Dual Immersion Boot Camp for Educators. The Dual Immersion Boot Camp is an opportunity for educators new to dual immersion* programs (whether starting one or planning one) to learn from experienced teachers and administrators about the critical features you need to know from the very beginning.
This year’s Boot Camp will begin with a one-day overview with resources, conversation, and demos of immersion teaching. The second day will provide hands-on opportunities for current and new immersion teachers and assistants to work together by language, grade level, and all together to focus on concrete preparations for the beginning of the school year.
*Note: A Dual Immersion program is an instructional model that provides content-based instruction to students in two languages where the goal is for the students, over a number of years of participation in the program, to become proficient and literate in both languages, while also meeting high academic standards in all subject areas. Other terminology that is commonly used for one of the variations of this type of program model is Dual Language, Two-way Dual Language, One-way Dual Language, Partial Immersion, Full Immersion, etc. Typically, programs begin at kindergarten or 1st grade and continue through elementary school, and, if possible, into middle and high school.
