A-F Accountability

The 84th Legislature passed HB 2804, changing the Texas school accountability system so that every campus and district receives one of five ratings from A-F. Much like students receive grades in individual subjects and those are combined for a GPA, the law requires schools and districts to be issued grades based on five different areas of performance or “domains,” and those five grades must be combined into a single overall rating. The ratings will be issued for the first time in August 2018.

Please know that these ratings are preliminary work-in-progress ratings. Given the limitations of data available, reports will feature possible grades for four of the five domains, and will not include an overall rating for any campus or our district. In a letter report to legislators, TEA says, “The ratings in this report are for informational purposes to meet a legislative requirement. No inferences about district or campus performance in the 2015-2016 school year should be drawn from these ratings, and these ratings should not be considered predictors of future district or campus performance ratings. Campus and district ratings for 2017-2018 will use different data and different indicators that were used for this report.”

While our Legislation is reporting letter grades for our district, which are not a final result nor a true reflection of our students. We ask our parents and community to support our district by becoming an active partner in the education of our children. Please contact your child’s campus for upcoming opportunities.
