Colby Community College Presidential Scholarship

Nomination must be from your school counselor.  The applicant must plan to attend Colby CC in the Fall of 2014 and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25, demonstrate leadership qualities and have a ACT composite score of at least 21.

This two year scholarship is worth $1,500 per year.

This scholarship is awarded to a senior girl who is a student of Marion High School and a resident of Marion County who is of good character, shows scholastic ability and has demonstrated leadership.  The selection is made without knowledge of the names of the applicants.  No special consideration is given to girls with relatives who are members of Chapter DB.
This scholarship is a one time gift in the amount $500.

Kansas State University Smurthwaite Scholarship

Applicants will live in the Smurthwaite Leadership House at a reduced cost to help offset the expense of higher education.  Applicants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, join at least one student organization on the KSU campus and be involved in at least four community-service learning projects per year.

Students will help with household type duties, and in return will receive a reduction of living expenses of approximately $500 per semester.

Applicant must be a senior from Marion High School and must be enrolled at any accredited college or university by September, 2014.  The selection committee for this scholarship will select one recipient to award and will base their selection on scholastic achievement, participation and leadership in school and community activities, citizenship and moral character, and educational goals.

One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $2,000.

This is a local scholarship.  Therefore, all interested applicants must come by the counseling office to receive an application.  Completed applications will also need to be submitted to Mr. Felvus to keep until the selection committee request them.
