Welcome to USD 353
Welcome to the Wellington Public Schools Special Education Services web page. The educational programs in Wellington are concerned with all phases of individual growth. A federal law called the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) says that all eligible school-aged children and youth with disabilities are entitled to receive a free appropriate public education. Students will be provided with sound academic opportunities to facilitate their physical, emotional, social, and vocational potential.Wellington Public Schools exist for the benefit of each student regardless of his or her capacity for learning. It is our task to provide demanding programs appropriate for all levels of ability. The goal of the Special Education Department is to implement this philosophy into practice for students with disabilities and to insure that children with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.

The mission of the Special Education Department of USD 353 is to educate, empower and inspire students with exceptionalities to achieve academic, emotional, social, and behavioral success.

All students will graduate from Wellington Public Schools having acquired the knowledge and skills required to reach their maximum potential.
