Head Coach Bill Johnson

Coach Johnson is a graduate of Flinthills HighSchool, Rosalia, KS. He graduated from Fort Hays University, Hays, with a B.S. in health and human performance. His major was physical education.

As a wrestler for Fort Hays, he won the NAIA National championship at 118 pounds in 1987, was NAIA national runnerup in 1986 and 1989 and placed fourth nationally in 1988. He was an NAIA Wrestling Academic All-American in 1988 and 1989.

Coach Johnson was chosen the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete at Fort Hays in 1989. He also placed in the top Ten at the Final Olympic Wrestling Trials at 114.5 pounds in 1988.

He is a member of the Executve Board of the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association and a past member of the Executive Board of the USA Wrestling-Kansas Inc. He has been very active in the USAW-Ks as Jr. Director and Head Freestyle Coach from 1994-2002.

Coach Johnson has directed NCHS Wrestling Teams to the following 3-2-1A State Trophies:

8 State Titles (2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015)

3 State-Runner-up Finishes (1997, 1998, 2003). 

4 Third Place finishes (1996, 2001, 2007, 2009).

Other top 5 finishes include:

1 Forth Place finish in (2008)

1 Fifth Place Finish in (2002 4-A)

Coach Johnson has been selected 3-2-1A Coach of the Year in 1997, 2001, 2010, 2013, and was selected 2013 NFHSAA National Wrestling Coach of the year.


Asst. Coach Eric Johnson

Assistant coach Eric Johnson is a 2003 Norton Community High School Graduate.  He attended University of Central Oklahoma on a Wrestling Scholarship for 3 years.  He earned his BS degree from Fort Hays State University and a Master Degree from Pittsburg State University.  Eric works full time as a Sales Associate at Norton Farm Bureau Financial Services. 

    As an Athlete Eric won 2 High School State Titles at Norton Community High School; 3-2-1A State Champion in 2001, and 4-A State Champion in 2002.  Eric placed 2nd two other times in High School, earning the honor of 4 x State Finalist.  

    Eric led his High School team to State places of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th during his four year career. 

    At Central Oklahoma Eric wrestled on the varsity team helping his team to several high placings at the National Dual meet Championships.


     Eric has been a great addition to the Coaching staff in 2014.  He has helped guide the middle weights through hands on wrestling and sharing his wealth of knowledge.  These efforts have helped lead Norton to 3-2-1A State Titles in 2014, & 2015.   


Asst. Coach Shane Miller

Coach Miller is a graduate of Kinsley High School, Kinsley Kansas.  He graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1990 with a teaching degree in Biological Sciences and earned his Masters degree in Counselor Education from Emporia State University, Emporia Ks, in 1998. 

He placed 2nd at the 3-2-1a state tournament in 1985 and continued his wrestling career on the nationally competitive Garden City Community College wrestling team.  He was an NJCAA Academic All-American in 1986 and 1987.  

Coach Miller began his coaching career at Eureka High School in Eureka Kansas, where he was the head coach for 14 years.  He started the USA wrestling program and junior high programs in Eureka as well.  As the high school head coach he posted a 132-63-3 career dual record, his teams won six Regional Championships, one Regional Runner Up finish, and several top 10 finishes at state.  He was named the KWOA “Coach of The Year” in 2001. 

Finally, he joined the Blue Jay staff in 2006-2007 as assistant coach and the head junior high wrestling coach. Coach Miller and the Asst. Coaching Staff won 3-2-1A Asst. Coaches of the year in 2011.  Coach Miller has been a great addition to the Bluejay staff and help win State Titles in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015.  He also serves as the high school counselor.



Asst. Coach Tony Fiscus 

Coach Fiscus is a graduate of Fredonia High School and earned his teaching degree in
Social Science from Pittsburg State University in 1987.  Coach Fiscus began his
coaching career at Norton Community High School as assistant Wrestling coach to Kansas Hall
of Famer Jake Durham. He remained at Norton through the 1998 season as assistant high
school and head junior high coach.  Coach Fiscus were instrumental in bringing Norton back
to the top of 3-2-1A with state runner-up finishes in 1997 and 1998 and third place in 1996.
Coach Fiscus returned to teach and coach at Fredonia High School from 1999-2008. During
this time, he served as head or assistant wrestling and football coach as well as head junior high
coach for five years.
In 2009, coach Fiscus returned to Norton as assistant high school and head junior high wrestling
coach. In this second stint at Norton, coach Fiscus has helped bring home 3-2-1A state titles in
2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and a third place in 2009.

Coach Fiscus and the Asst. Coaching Staff won 3-2-1A Asst. Coaches of the year in 2011.

Coach Fiscus was the 2013 KWCA Jr. High Coach of the Year. 
Coach Fiscus teaches junior high social studies.
