5th Grade Band
Fifth grade band is an elective class that meets MWF. The first two weeks of school, all fifth graders attend the class and each student is given the opportunity to try each band instrument. By the end of the second week, students have a fairly good idea of what they like best and what seems to work well for them. I work with the students and their parents or guardians to help secure band instruments for those students who wish to enroll in band. The class has its first public appearance at the CPMS winter concert on December 14, 2015. Please read the 5th grade band parent letter below:

6-7-8 Grade Band
Middle School Band is an elective class that meets MWF. Our first goal is to get ready to march in the State Fair Band Day Parade at the Kansas State Fair in downtown Hutchinson on Wednesday, September 16. Our last marching event is the Central Plains Homecoming Parade at 2:30 PM in Claflin on Friday, Sept. 25. After that we turn in our lyres and flip folders and concentrate on concert music for the winter concert on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015. As 2016 begins, we turn our focus to music festival performance. Students will perform as a band at the LaCrosse Music Festival, and also have the opportunity to perform solos and small ensembles at the festival. Music & Dessert is an opportunity for students to perform their solos and small ensembles for the home crowd in an informal setting on Friday, Apr. 22. Our final concert is Monday, May 16 in the CPMS gym. Parents and patrons are welcome to all of our performances. Please read the 6-7-8 Band parent letter below:
