Starting on Dec. 20 at 3:30 p.m. and ending on Jan. 4, students have 15 days, 16 hours, 19 minutes of Christmas break. After the last bell rings on Dec. 20, it's up to the students and teachers to decide what they do with their time.
Christmas break is a lot of free time. It is time for teachers and students to relax, catch up on sleep and work. Students have lots of stress from finals and making sure that their homework is done before the semester. Teachers also have a lot of stress because they have to have all of their grades in at the end of the quarter. If the teachers are parents, they also have the stress of getting their Christmas gifts ready.
In a December survey that was answered by 38 students, the majority of the students responded that they like to spend their time indoors relaxing, spending time with family, and sleeping.
Freshman Ryker Clary said that his favorite part of Christmas break was not being in school.
I personally spend my Christmas break with family, making cookies, sleeping in and trying not to think about going back to school. Other students said they like spending their time outdoors sledding and going shopping.
The other side of Christmas break is the end of it. Going back can cause some students to have anxiety. On that same survey, most of the students said that the worst part of Christmas break is going back to school.
Clary also said that the worst part of Christmas break is going back to school.
I feel like students and teachers should get more time on Christmas break so they could relax more and take the time they need to reset from the stressful school year. I feel like school is not that stressful all of the time. There are times when school is stressful, but I think that school has more pros and cons.
