The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Archery program continues to gain more and more attention throughout the area as well as the nation as it prepares for its first season of competition. Head Coach Kris Strebeck continues to hit the recruiting trail hard for the Patriots and has landed another well decorated archer as Hunter Rickard has signed to the University of the Cumberlands for the 2012-2013 season.
Hunter is the son of Derek and Mary Rickard and hails from Henderson, Kentucky. He will graduate from Henderson County High School in May. While at HCHS, Rickard has been a part of two Regional Titles (2011 and 2012), one State Championship (2011), and a National Championship (2011).
When asked about joining UC, Rickard said, “I am looking forward to growing not only as an archer at Cumberlands, but as a student and a person. UC makes me feel like I’m at home.”
Coach Strebeck commented, “Hunter has been involved in archery for many years with his high school team. We are excited about him wanting to continue his archery career and education at UC. Hunter knows what it’s like to compete at a high level and has been on the big stage. He will be a great addition to our first archery team.”
The Patriot archery team at UC will begin competition in the fall of 2012 as they will compete in the US Intercollegiate Archery Championships at the Mizzou Archery Club on the campus of the University of Missouri on October 19-21st.
