Welcome to Urban Kitchen SF

Urban Kitchen SF hosts affordable, single-purpose classes and workshops themed around the DIY Slow Food concept. Classes incorporate hands-on learning with instruction by area experts. Topics include food preservation, brewing Kombucha, baking bread, butchery, urban gardening, and more. Participants are provided with a "starter kit" upon completion of the class, making it simple and easy to practice their new skills at home.

Part II: Pickling Party, August 5

Our sell-out Pickling Party is back this August, and participants can once again learn the secrets of pickling with Todd of Happy Girl Kitchen.  This is the second of our Sweet 'n Sour Summer Preservation Series.

Sausage-Making with Dave the Butcher, August 19

Learn to make sausage, by hand and without any special equipment or machinery.  Dave the Butcher will teach participants how to make two types of sausage, pork, and lamb, using caul fat.

Making Tofu with Hodo Soy Beanery

Take a tour of Hodo Soy Beanery in Oakland, CA where they produce artisanal tofu, yuba noodles, and soymilk plus delicious prepared foods.  You'll learn how to make your own homemade tofu using freshly made soymilk while tasting the delicious offerings of the Beanery.  As always, participants take home a starter kit including everything you need to make tofu at home.
