About The Department
The Mechanical Engineering Department established in 2014. It became the second engineering department after Petroleum Engineering Department. Mechanical Engineering is one of the most comprehensive fields in the engineering science. This is recognized when dealing with instrumentations, machinery, specialized equipment, power plants, refrigeration, air-conditioning as related to industrial, and production aspects. Applicants for this study should have a secondary school certificate in scientific section. The B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering is conferred after successfully completing required credit units in four years; two semesters per year. The graduates will be prepared to work in the industrial establishments, in both the governmental and private sectors. The graduate will also have the opportunity eligible to pursue postgraduate studies.


The Objectives and Outcomes
The aim of this department is to provide students with knoledge of, and practical skills in topics including:

  • The graduates will engage in productive careers in a broad range of mechanical engineering areas in public and private sectors in Kurdistan region.
  • The graduates will engage in continuous professional development to respond to rapidly evolving technological and social challenges.
  • The graduates will contribute to the welfare of society and the development of the profession through responsible practice of engineering and involvement in professional organizations.
  • The graduates will have an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
  • The graduates will have an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs.
  • The graduates will have an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
  • The graduates will have an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.

Acquire

  1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering.
  2. An ability to design a mechanical system, component, or process to meet desired need of the local markets within the constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, maneuverability, and sustainability.
  3. An ability to preside on the mechanical engineering projects.
  4. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.
  5. An ability to produce mechanical engineering systems, component or process.
