U.S. Consul General to Kurdistan Region Visited University of Sulaimani

The newly appointed Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, Mr. Matthias Mitman along with Sara Harriger, Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil, Lisa Grice and Dr. Dara Saeed, Senior Commercial Specialist, visited University of Sulaimani on Sunday August 23, 2015 to introduce himself to University of Sulaimani President, extend the U.S. Consulate support to University of Sulaimani and donate few iPads to the American Corner at University of Sulaimani.

The U.S. Consulate General delegation was received by University of Sulaimani President, Professor Dr. Salahalddin Saeed Ali, Dr. Khasraw A. Rashid, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Post Graduate Studies, Dr Bakhtiar M. Ameen, Vice President for Administration Affairs, Dr Arass F. Zainal, Vice President for Students Affairs, Dr Karzan G. Khidhir, Director of International Academic Relations.

During the meeting, the University of Sulaimani President, Professor Dr. Salahalddin thanked the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil for their continuous support to University of Sulaimani and stressed on the willingness of University of Sulaimani to intensify relations with the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil.

Meanwhile the U.S. Consul General in Erbil, Mr. Matthias Mitman thanked the University of Sulaimani officials for their warm reception and cooperation with their Consulate General.

After the meeting, the U.S. Consulate General delegation and University of Sulaimani officials visited the School of Fine Arts where they were received by Dr. Rebwar S. Rashed, Dean of the School, Dr. Naeema Muhamad, Vice Dean and Dr. Abdullah Jamal, Head of Music Department. The U.S. Consul General and other delegates then checked out Art works including paintings and sculptures made by the students. Mr. Mitman expressed his delight to see the nice art projects made by the University of Sulaimani students.

The U.S. Consulate General delegation and University of Sulaimani officials then visited the American Corner at University of Sulaimani where an event was arranged by the corner staff for the students and visitors. Mr. Matthias Mitman made remarks during the event, calling the American Corner at University of Sulaimani as the most active American corner in the country. His remarks followed by a Q & A session. At the end, Mr. Matthias Mitman donated few iPads to the American Corner at University of Sulaimani.
