I am Associate Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Law of Sapienza University of Rome, where I currently teach Economics and Policy of Networks, Applied Economics and Public Economics. I collaborate with the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research of the Higher School of Economics in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

I previously held posts at the Departments of Economics of the Universities of Trento, Siena, and Cassino. I also worked with OECD, FAO and other national and international research institutions. 

I obtained the Italian national scientific qualification (abilitazione scientifica nazionale) as Full Professor (professore ordinario) of Political Economy (sector 13/A1), Economic Policy (13/A2), Public Economics (13/A3) and Applied Economics (13/A4).

I am founding editor of the Social Capital Gateway, website providing resources for social sciences and co-editor of the International Review of Economics.
My research work mainly focuses on the relationship between social capital and economic growth and on the role of social media in social cohesion and well-being.

I occasionally write op-eds in the Italian newspaper Il Foglio and in the Italian magazine Strade on topics of economics and policy. From 2011 to 2015 I wrote three blogs and op-ed articles in the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano and in the Italian magazines MicroMega and Pagina 99.
