Research interests

The main research area is the physics of disordered materials (polymers, viscous liquids, glasses), of ordered phases (liquid crystals, plastic crystals) and of the interplay and transition between order and disorder. Topics recently investigated: the effect of pressure/temperature on the dynamics of glass-formers, water mixtures and solvated proteins; the transport and charge relaxation in intrinsically conducting polymers; the effect of nanointerfaces and confinement on the dynamics and crystallization kinetics of thin polymer films; electrical and mechanical response of rocks as heterogeneous media. Technical Expertise: Dielectric Spectroscopy, Neutron Scattering, THz, Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy, Atomic and Electric Force Microscopy.
