This site collects information regarding the research activity in Machine Learning and (Probabilistic) Reasoning that is carried out at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Department of Engineering of the University of Ferrara.
The group is focused on machine learning, data mining and intelligent data analysis. In particular, the group has a strong record of research in statistical relational learning, i.e., the induction of complex statistical models involving intertwined and uncertain relations among a large number of entities.  The group has performed both theoretical research, with the proposal of new algorithmic approaches for improving the performances of existing algorithms, and applied research, with the actual development of a number of systems and their application to a vast array of domains including social networks analysis, natural language processing, entity resolution, bioinformatics and medicine.

For an overview on some of the activities of the group see the material page.
