The Department of Community and Therapeutic Recreation at UNCG has a long, proud history of community engagement. Every year students in the department gain valuable hands-on experience and expand their professional horizons while giving back to the Piedmont Triad community.
In the Fall of 2012 our Program Planning in Recreation and Parks (RPM 213) class set out to assist 9 local agencies with planning, implementing, and evaluating a program. Our group served Spring Arbor with planning and implementing the Fall Hoedown. This event was autumn themed and coincided with their one year anniversary. Along the way we learned a great deal and here is the story of our groups service learning experience!
