Please read the policies and instructions before sending questions to the Vice President of Finance, as many FAQs are clearly answered on this site, and the VP of Finance has to process a high volume of award applications and questions.

Overview of Funding Opportunities

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) provides multiple funding resources for graduate students.  Three of these funds provide individual support: a Professional Development Fund (PDF), a Research Travel Grant (RTG), and a Thesis/Dissertation Fund (TDF).   The Graduate Student Association Community Based Research Fund issues grants used for community/research partnerships. This grant is currently under development..  The PGSN Fund is no longer active.
Student fee money is allocated for each fund and awards are made until funds are depleted.  A student is eligible to apply for two (2) PDF awards per fiscal year (July 1-June 30), which means two awards disbursed in each Summer/Fall/Spring cycle.  Graduate students may apply for one (1) TDF award for each graduate degree they receive at UNCG.
In order for a student to be eligible for an award, the student and/or the student's departmental GSA representative must regularly attend the GSA monthly meetings during the academic year.  A list of eligible academic departments are listed on Affliation Requirements webpage.
